HGTV reached out to me, but I thought it was a scam, at first…

When HGTV first reached out to me it was via a very anonymous looking email. In fact, I kind of thought it was a scam.

The email was along the lines of “Hey, we’re filming a new show in Lake Arrowhead. It’s called Fix My Flip. We’ve looked you up on the internet and we’re wondering if you would be interested in being a part of the show?”

I started looking into it and it appeared to be the real thing. There really is a company called Big Table Media, there really is a show in production called Fix My Flip, it really is starring, hosted, and funded by Page Turner from Flip or Flop Nashville, so I took it to another step just to be sure. We exchanged a few emails and the next thing I knew I was on the phone with one of the show’s producers. We had a great chat and he asked me to do a quick selfie-style video to introduce myself via a story so the rest of the production crew could see me and make sure I was what they wanted. He asked me to keep it to three minutes…

Anyone who knows me knows I don’t tell a story in three minutes. I think the video was closer to five minutes. Surprise! After a few hours the producer called me and told me everyone loved my video and yes, they really wanted me.

And that’s how my appearance on HGTV’s Fix My Flip started: An email that looked like a scam!
